Congratulations to Derek Whittenburg who just won a silver medal in the SkillsUSA national Diesel Powered Equipment competition in Louisville, KY. Derek is a recent graduate of Kevin Human’s Diesel Powered Equipment Technology program and is now employed as a diesel mechanic with J & K Truck Repair in Crossville, TN.
Derek, who placed 4th on the national level last year, said he was very excited to be on the national stage and podium. As a silver medal recipient, Derek won a prize package that includes tools and gift certificates. When asked about the overall experience, Derek replied “don't ever give up on your dreams. Keep chasing them!! Keep studying, yes there will be sacrifices along the way, but it's all worth it to be able to say you accomplished what you set out to do.”
